Cats Ears

Cats rely on their hearing for hunting prey. It also alerts them to the direction of a predator.

Your cat’s ears like their eyes can help you to detect their mood. Some of the ear positioning is as follows.

  • Forward – alertness to a sound/slightly relaxed
  • Twitching ears – showing signs of being anxious
  • Erected ears front or back – Alertness/tense

  • Aero plane – partially flattened shown anxious
  • Aero plane fully flattened out – fearful
  • Rotated back and flattened – this position is displaced during a fight. It help the ears to not be injured. Cat is feeling fearful.

Do not approach a cat that is showing signs of aggression. Wait till the cat has calm down.
